With decades of experience with injection molding and fulfilling customer needs, TMF has become an industry leader in complex injection molding, overmolding and insert molding. TMF is capable of running engineering grade resin, clear resin, TPE, TPR, glass filled resins, etc. in any of our presses ranging from 80 to 2,000 tons. If desired, TMF can also assist in the material selection for your specific application to meet any necessary product performance criteria.
Injection molding clear materials can provide consumers with products that have the appearance of glass, but are much more durable and shatter resistant. There are several clear resins on the market that offer different properties that are more appealing for different markets, whether that be headlights for a car or for a food storage container.
Overmolding is the process of injection molding a (typically) softer material around a more rigid material for aesthetic purposes or to act as a gasket or sealing surface. Even with overmolding clear parts, TMF is able to guarantee a scratch free surface after the parts are overmolded. While many molders do not want to challenge themselves with overmolded designs, TMF has mastered this craft and is able to run with minimal scrap and low cost with the integration of robotics.
Insert molding is the process of injection molding around a non-plastic component. The insert could be in the form of a brass insert, a bolt, metal rod, bearings, etc. This process is utilized to take advantage of engineered plastics for improved wear resistance, tensile strength and weight reduction. On the flip side, it allows a plastic part to still possess the benefits of metallic materials for strength and conductivity.
